AGM Outcomes and plans for 2011

SCCA Team - Monday, December 20, 2010

The Peregian Beach hotel was the venue for our final catalyst club for the year and AGM on December 8.  Around 30 people joined us for the evening and enjoyed the food, the company and chatting about different people's ideas and plans for 2011. Councillor Lew Brennan joined us and reaffirmed his support for building and supporting the creative and knowledge industries in our region.

At the AGM the President's report and the Treasurer's report were presented and the new committee elected.  Our 2011 committee is: President - Maggie Third, Secretary - Sue Davis, Treasurer - Catherine Hutton, Management Committee - Angie Dunbavan, Mary Eggleston, Leanne Porter and Annemaree Cotterell.  We would like to thank committee members who had to step down for various reasons throughout the year.  These included President Frank Pardon and committee members Kate Gibson and Julie Allan.

President Maggie Third invited us all to do something 'extra-ordinary' in 2011 and the Alliance plans to do this by building on what works but doing several high profile, high impact events.  One of these will hopefully be a creative expo in the second half of the year and this will feature opportunities for creative individuals and businesses to showcase their work, as well as experience top notch professional development and share creative practice.  Other plans include four Pecha Kucha Nights and a design focussed event. We hope to encourage various members and cluster groups to take up the offer to host Catalyst Clubs and we will support people through this process if they are interested.

The good news is that we have just heard that we were successful in applying for a Sunshine Coast Council grant for 2011 to support scoping and planning for the creative expo.  Angie Dunbavan from Red Chair events partnered with the Alliance to prepare this grant application and will be working with us from early next year to kickstart investigations and plans. We also have plans to update our website and add some new features and we welcome The Creative Collective on board as our new web partners, with sincere thanks to PunkLogic for the fantastic job they have done to date in setting up the website and designing the online showcase. So great things coming up for 2011, stay tuned and get involved!
