Sunshine Coast Environment Community Film Festival

SCCA Team - Thursday, March 11, 2010

The Noosa Integrated Catchment Association (NICA) is calling for entries to the Sunshine Coast Environment Community Film Festival, to be held at the popular Word Environment Day at the Sunshine Coast University on 6 June 2010. The film festival is possible by the Queensland Department of Environment and Natural Resource Management Awareness Grant 2010.

This festival will be a celebration of the vibrant, diverse and fantastic work of local community groups and NRM organizations towards “Reducing our carbon footprint – protecting, repairing and restoring the environment”. All local film makers, budding or seasoned, are invited to take part.

Their mission is to tell the stories of these groups in a captivating, creative and informative way to enthuse the public to get involved and do their parts for the environment and a sustainable future. All films must be under 7 minutes long and submitted before the 10th May.

To facilitate this, NICA will organize a briefing and Q&A session on Wed 24th March, 5 pm, at the Sunshine Beach Surf Club where interested film makers and local community and NRM groups will meet. Small grants may be available to support young film makers. Sponsors are most welcome.

NICA is also organizing a Keep Our Biosphere Beautiful Short Film Competition focussing on litter and sustainability. Selected films from this will also be screened at the festival. Check out details, tell us if you are interested and stay tune for further announcements.
