What better way to get into the Halloween spirit than with an adventurous magician, far out designs for knuckle rings and espresso machines made of titanium, the tricks of character voices and voice projection and the treats from painting and photographing the things that matter. The lineup for this fourth PechaKucha night includes magician, adventurer and author Sean Tretheway; eclectic product and jewellery designer Phil Ward; voice over and character voice supremo Ross Newth; ABC Open media producer and outback photographer Natalija Brunovs and passionate hinterland painter Eleanor Percival. Tim McGee from Arts Queensland will also share information about the Creative Generator. “I am working with artists, councils and community arts and cultural workers to support the development of programs and services and provide information and advice on funding and other programs.”

Just before halloween we're asking creatives to share some of the tricks of their trade or treat us to their successes and achievements. This fun and informative event will be on Tuesday October 26 at Nambour Civic Centre, 5.30 for a 6.00 pm start. If you would like to present, email us before the end of Sept with a 200 word blurb about yourself and what you might present about.
The format is 20 slides x 20 seconds each, a blank template is available to use. The format is the one now used in 350 cities and centres across the world. Check out the worldwide PKN website for examples and inspiration, We'll provide a template and advice. We look forward to another night of diverse presentations!

Thank you to our fantastic presenters for sharing their work with us on Tues July 27 at Pecha Kucha Night #3. The presentations demonstrated the depth and range of talent on the coast and it was great to see the conversations continue in the foyer at the end. The foyer and cinema spaces at Nambour Civic Centre worked beautifully for the event and we hope to use them again. Thanks to Jayne, Gary, Mary, Steven, Michael, Ross, Gard & Yvette for responding to the challenge and making your mark! It was also great to have the support of Annie Gaffney who was the perfect MC. Terrific to see lots of new faces as well as some familiar ones and the support of creative alliance committee members Maggie, Angie, Catherine, Geoff and also Georgia. A big thanks to our event sponsors Sunshine Coast Council and RedChair. We plan for PKN #4 to be staged in October and we already have a few folk interested in presenting. Let us know at any time if you want us to put your name on the list for upcoming Pecha Kucha Night events.

Our next Pecha Kucha Night is moving to beautiful downtown Nambour on Tuesday July 27 and will be hosted by the fabulous Annie Gaffney. The theme is "Make Your Mark" and we'll be hearing from people who'll talk about this in relation to their work, their hobbies, their passions and their ideas. The theme can be interpreted in many ways, perhaps you're someone who believes we should leave this place without making our mark and we'd like to hear about that too. The format is the usual 20 slides x 20 seconds each with live commentary or performance! If you're interested in presenting, send us an email... preferrably by the end of June.

What a terrific night - great presentations, inspiring material and a good turn out! Around 100 people attended the 'Create/Sustain' Pecha Kucha Night at The J on Tuesday March 23. Phil Moran who is Deputy Chair of Noosa Biosphere opened the night, making it clear that human activity, the arts and culture are part of what makes our biosphere special. If we want to protect and promote our precious environment we need to use culture and the arts to do so. We also need to connect people to their community and this is what Pecha Kucha Night is all about.
