About this showcase:
Flicks in the Sticks - Eumundi Outdoor Cinema is coordinated by Eumundi locals Trent Harvison and Steve Beardsley and their young families. With a passion for film and community events, the Flicks in the Sticks team set out to provide an affordable family-friendly entertainment option for locals and tourists visiting the Sunshine Coast. Where else can you enjoy a great night out under the stars (complete with food, drink and more) for not much more than the cost to hire a DVD?
Other visions include the support of emerging filmmakers and fundraising opportunities. Flicks encourages local filmmakers to submit short-films and animations for possible screening prior to the feature films. This will provide budding filmmakers with an opportunity to screen their latest project to an audience of several hundred – on our huge inflatable screen, and with our state of the art sound system.
We also invite other groups to organise fundraisers at our place (Eumundi) or yours (school, sportsground, etc). If you have a backyard big enough, celebrate a milestone birthday or anniversary by booking Flicks in the Sticks for a private screening - a Western epic, a Bollywood extravaganza or your favourite cult classic. Invite people to your special screening and a percentage of sales from tickets is donated to your nominated beneficiary. We work with you to select the most appropriate films.
We also aim to support and celebrate local artists in the vibrant and creative town of Eumundi by funding public art. Contact us to submit short films and animations for possible screening, or to make suggestions for upcoming feature films or fundraising events for your school, club or community group.
